A Tree Grows in K-2

On Rosh Chodesh Shevat, as the beginning of spring in Israel approached, K-2 decided to plant a tree. This was no ordinary tree, but our very own “Etz Ha’Chesed.” The children discovered that this tree is very special because it grows bigger every time a K-2 child performs an act of chesed. In conjunction with the Brit Midot of the Moriah School, K-2 learned that a chesed is a kindness that one person does for another. The Etz Ha’Chesed project has helped the children become aware of other people’s needs. The children understand the concept of selflessly helping their friends and generously sharing with them. We have watched our tree grow over this past month and look forward to watching it blossom as the year moves on. If you are in the neighborhood, please come visit our K-2 “Etz Ha’Chesed,” so you too can see how much we have grown.
