Chag Purim Sameach! Dr. Prager Announces New Brit Mitot

“I’ve come to realize that our Brit Midot is not being taken seriously enough and, after four years of careful research, I now think I know what the problem is. Our students come to school so tired in the morning that they simply don’t have the strength to practice the midot contained in our Brit Midot. I’ve come to realize that if our students had a greater opportunity to sleep, they would be much more motivated and energized to live according to this Covenant of Ethics. Therefore, beginning the day after Shushan Purim, I will be implementing a new code of ethics to be known as The Moriah Brit Mitot (מטוט = beds). This new code of behavior requires every Moriah student to wake up at 8:30 AM each day, daven and then go back to sleep until 12:00 noon. After a healthy lunch and some exercising, all students will then be expected to get to school by 1:30 PM. Upon arrival at school every student, Pre-K through 8th, will be required to do several mitzvot which demonstrate their understanding of what it means to be a ba’al/ba’alat midot. At 2:30 PM each day, every student will be taught some reading, writing and math, along with Torah, denim and Hebrew language, of course. All Lower School will end at the usual time of 3:30 PM and Middle School will end at 4:30.”

At a recent Board meeting, Dr. Prager was questioned about the lack of instructional time required to cover all of the subjects and curricula which students need to learn during their years at Moriah. In response, Dr. Prager unveiled another creative and exciting innovation as part of his new Brit Mitot: the “CSI” standing for: “Computerized Shluf Instructor.” This amazing device, invented by Technology Director, Lisa Fusco, is designed for students of all ages and basically serves as a teacher for all major subject areas while the student sleeps. While the student is asleep, the CSI presents all of the relevant and age-appropriate knowledge in a hypnotic mode, with the ultimate effect of permanently implanting the knowledge in the brain. During several different stages of the sleep cycle, the student will be prompted to respond to selected questions by verbally repeating the answers which will be recorded on a special taping device and then brought to school each day by the student for review by the classroom teacher. Dr. Prager stated that this ingenious invention, along with the entire principle of enabling our children to get more sleep, will be one of the greatest revolutions in the history of education and will put Moriah on the map as THE pioneer in learning technologies.

To kick off the implementation of this new program, Dr. Prager will be teaching the entire school the theme song which he has chosen for the Brit Mitot, Arik Einstein’s “Ani Ohev Leeshon”!

Dream On
