Gan Dubonim Gets Ready For Purim

In preparation for Purim our classroom has undergone a transformation! Our bayit has become the beautiful palace in Shushan, the capital of Persia. Everyone worked hard painting and decorating the walls of the palace. We hung colored tulle and beads from the ceiling, creating an elegant entrance to our palace. But all visitors to our palace must first pass through our very realistic looking palace gates. We covered tables and chairs with beautiful fabrics and placed them in the palace. We then added costumes, masks, crowns, jewelry, and scepters and watched as the role playing began!

We learned that the Purim story is read from a Megillah, and created our own Gan Dubonim version of the Megillah. The children dressed up as the Purim characters, and retold the Purim story in their own words. As they acted out each part of the story, we took many pictures. These beautiful pictures became the illustrations for our Megillah. The children look so authentic and adorable! There is definitely the feeling of Shushan in the air!
