PowerPoint For Young Students
PowerPoint for young students? You better believe it, as we are in full swing in Ms. Miller’s technology classes. Here at Moriah we start in third grade, and the students just completed a slideshow complete with 5 slides about one of the six continents. Working from a template, the students, paired with a partner, learned to add text and paste in a graphic to a simple white background. They were also taught to format the font, color and size. In the fourth grade, in preparation for the upcoming Invention Convention, on March 31st. The students increased their skill base, by learning to add a colorful background, insert a saved picture, add a word art and transitions between the slides. They also learned how their group slideshow was added to create a class slideshow. The fifth grade will be beginning this week on their Oceanography topic in preparation for the Oceanography evening at school scheduled right after Pesach on April 22nd. These group projects will contain graphic images set as backgrounds, and the students will add a final skill to their skill base, by “animating the bulleting information. PowerPoint will continue to be a part of our students’ lives from this point forward.
