Eighth Grade Trip to Museum of Jewish Heritage
Last week as a prelude to Kristallnacht, the 8th grade students spent the morning at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City; learning about anti-Semitism, and the events that led up to the unspeakable horrors of the Shoa. Our small groups were led through the informative exhibits by museum volunteers who spent time answering questions, explaining specific historical themes, and served as a resource for information that was necessary to our understanding of what we had seen. Although we spent close to two hours there, teachers and students alike felt the time fly by as we were engrossed in listening to video taped testimonials. Perhaps most importantly, this trip served as an important opportunity for our students to learn about the outgrowths of intolerance and racism on both a national and individual level. It was a trip worth while for all who attended.
