Moriah Students Attend Rally
This past Monday, the 7th and 8th graders stood outside the United Nations alongside thousands of other individuals, crying out against the injustices perpetrated by Iran’s tyrannical dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. We heard speeches from such notables as Elie Weisel and Natan Sharansky. We came to support a cause that speaks to the heart of every American and every Jew. We said no to a nuclear Iran; we said no to an Iran that refuses to respect the rights of women; we said no to an Iran that den ies the Holocaust; we said no to an Iran that violates the basic human rights of its citizens and that threatens the existence of the State of Israel and world peace. We proudly wore our blue Moriah caps and held our heads high.
While addressing the 7th and 8th graders later that afternoon, Rabbi Weinberg, reiterated the important messages heard at the rally and explained that while our time in New York City may have seemed long and drawn out to some, we must understand that our being there means that we made a difference! Our 7th and 8th graders were well behaved and respectful; they truly represented the important values that we strive to instill in all of our students!
