Early Childhood Welcomes Two Special Visitors

The early childhood classes welcomed the shofar making factory.  Rabbi Grossbaum, from Living Legacy, explained to the children where the shofar comes from.  He then demonstrated how a shofar is made by cutting off the tip of a ram’s horn, and drilling a hole. For the last step, each class was given a shofar to polish and keep.  The children had a blast!!

The classes also were visited by Cliff Sunflower and his honeybees!  They learned about the different jobs that bees do to make honey.  The children were separated into groups, each group acting out a different job. At multiple stations, the children were able to have hands-on experiences such as trying on a bee keeper’s uniform, looking through a special lens that simulates a bee’s sight, observing live honey bees in a real hive, and trying some of the honey produced at the honey farm.   All the children made beeswax candles!
